Live Better Electrically parts 1-4

"Live Better Electrically part 1: Lucky" (January 2012)
11" x 14" Collage, Acrylic, and Silkscreen on Cradled Birch panel

Do all your life's problems boil down to bad luck? Are you a born loser?

"Live Better Electrically part 2: Horse Thief" (January 2012)
11" x 14" Collage, Acrylic, and Silkscreen on Cradled Birch panel

What kind of reaction are we supposed to have to the media and its tendency to push the panic button at the drop of a hat? Why tell us how terrible the economy is if we aren't allowed to go out and take whatever we can get our hands on?

"Live Better Electrically part 3: Gifted" (January 2012)
11" x 14" Collage, Acrylic, and Silkscreen on Cradled Birch panel

Do all good things really come to those who wait? Can't we all just sit around and wait for someone else to pay our bills and buy us a Buick?

"Live Better Electrically part 4: Start Today" (January 2012)
11" x 14" Collage, Acrylic, and Silkscreen on Cradled Birch panel

Does anyone have the answers? Does anyone truly know what path is "The Right Path to Success"? Would they really only share that secret with people watching local cable at 11AM on a Tuesday?

This project is a 4-part series done for my Experimental Illustration class. This assignment required us to convey a sense of overstimulation, multi-tasking, etc. by utilizing multiple layers. Transfers and other transparent techniques were encouraged to help build the layered effect. I focused on the feeling one gets when you watch daytime tv. The commercials telling you how to fix your life tend to just flow in and out of your skull, but what effect does it have on you in the long run?
